Back in 2019, after many rumors and clues, the news finally became official: Ewan McGregor would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi, the character he had played in the Star Wars prequels, in a Disney+ series created around the character’s prequelA new hope time on Tatooine. The show premiered in 2022 and was generally well received, but it wasn’t a pop culture sensation in the way Andor either The MandalorianStill, given the popularity of the character, McGregor’s obvious pleasure in playing him, and the questions the show left behind, it’s almost surprising that Obi-Wan Kenobi It has not yet had a second season.
And while McGregor, speaking with Variety on the occasion of the induction of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—he has no news to share on this matter, he is still talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi “I loved, more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness’s work because I played him when I was young,” McGregor told the outlet. “Even now with the show, that’s my personal challenge: If a shot feels a little bit like him, I’m happy.”
