Last summer, film fans mourned the death of actress Shelley Duvall, 75. Best known for The Shining, Time Bandits, and many other films, he began to distance himself from acting in the early 2000s before retiring completely after the 2002 independent film. That movie is The hills of the forest, which recently released its first trailer ahead of its early October premiere. In the film, Chiko Mendez plays Rico, a camper in the Catskill Mountains who gets hit in the head and ends up with strange, creepy visions that he just can’t get out of his head. Eventually, his friend Billy (Edward Furlong) gets it into Rico’s head and tells him that he might actually be turning into a werewolf — and he might not be the only one that’s happening to him. While he’s dealing with the idea, Rico also has to confront his past, primarily his strained relationship with his mother, played by Duvall.

Initially, Duvall was only going to appear via a small flashback cameo, a la Pamela Voorhees in the original film. Friday the 13th. The hills of the forest will hit select theaters on October 4, followed by streaming on October 8.
