Good news: Black Friday came early for Sonos fans. From now until December 2, you can potentially save hundreds on a variety of Sonos products, including sound bars, smart speakers, and headphones. There’s a lot on sale, and thankfully the Sonos app is in better shape than it was a few months ago, meaning now is a good time to buy if you’re looking to upgrade your home theater setup.
First is the Sonos Acethe company’s first pair of wireless headphones. Right now, they are down to a new low of $349 ($100 off) on Amazon, Best buyand Sonos Online Storefront. They’re comfortable and stylish, with stellar noise cancellation, an exceptionally natural-sounding Transparency mode, and great audio. However, its most notable feature is its excellent integration with the rest of the Sonos ecosystem. The Ace supports a nifty feature called TV Audio Swap, which lets you pair with soundbars like the Sonos Arc, Sonos Beam (both generations), and Sonos Ray for private listening.
The Sonos Ace are the company’s first wireless headphones. They feature a comfortable, premium build and active noise cancellation, plus compatibility with Sonos Arc and other Sonos sound bars.
Speaking of Sonos soundbars, the second-generation Sonos Arc and Sonos Beam are available at a new low price. The Arch It’s the largest and most capable of the three soundbars, with upward-facing Dolby Atmos speakers delivering impressive audio quality. That said, the second-generation Beam also offers good sound and Dolby Atmos support, although it’s not at the same level. The Beam also has other features in common with the Arc, including an HDMI eARC port and support for Apple AirPlay 2, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.
Of course, we would be remiss if we did not point out the new Sonos Arc Ultrawhich is a more powerful version of the original Arc. It is the first Sonos product to feature Sonos’ new “Sound Motion” technology, which is supposed to produce even richer, more immersive sound. Unlike the Arc, it also offers Bluetooth audio playback and supports Trueplay EQ tuning, so it should offer the same kind of sound quality no matter where you place it in the room. However, the Arc Ultra costs $999, so if you’re trying to save some money, the original model is still a great option if you’re comfortable making a few compromises.
The Sonos Arc is a powerful Dolby Atmos speaker that also integrates with the company’s multi-room audio platform. With additional capabilities like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple AirPlay 2, it’s a feature-rich sound bar that sounds just as good when playing music.
The latest Sonos Beam fits in the middle of the Sonos soundbar lineup. It supports Dolby Atmos via virtualized surround sound and offers eARC compatibility with newer TVs.
If the Beam and Arc are too expensive for you, there’s also the 22-inch Sonos Ray. The compact soundbar doesn’t sound as powerful as the Beam, but it manages to produce a dynamic and balanced sound that’s surely better than your TV’s built-in speakers. Just keep in mind that it lacks HDMI and only accepts optical audio from your TV, so you’ll have to do without eARC.
Ray is Sonos’ entry-level soundbar that’s best for bedrooms and smaller apartments. It only connects to televisions via an optical cable, so you lose HDMI-CEC functionality. It also produces balanced and dynamic sound despite its small size, easily outperforming the TV’s built-in speakers. Read our review.
If you’re not interested in a soundbar, Sonos also has some smart speaker deals. Right now, for example, you can buy the Sonos Era 100 for an all-time low of $199 ($50 off) from Amazon, Best buyand Sonos. He Sonos Era 300meanwhile, it’s available for $359 ($90 off), also an all-time low, at the same retailers (Amazon, Best buy, Sonos).
The Sonos Era 100 is the successor to the Sonos One and, as such, offers better sound and newer capabilities (including stereo playback). In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Era 100 also supports line-in playback via an optional 3.5mm to USB-C adapter. Additionally, it is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa, allowing for hands-free commands.
The Era 100 smart speaker from Sonos is a replacement for the older Sonos One and uses two tweeters (left and right) and a larger woofer. In addition to Wi-Fi, Era 100 supports Bluetooth audio and line-in playback via an optional adapter. Read our review.
The Sonos Era 300 supports the same Bluetooth and line-in features as the Era 100, as well as AirPlay 2 and Apple’s Alexa. However, Sonos’ hourglass-shaped speaker aims to deliver a great spatial audio experience. When you pair two Era 300s with the second-generation Sonos Arc or Beam, it offers full Dolby Atmos audio, making it the only Sonos speaker to do so. The overall result is an immersive audio experience, where it feels like sound is coming from all directions.
The hourglass-shaped Sonos Era 300 is designed from the ground up for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos. It supports the same Bluetooth and line-in features as the Era 100. If you pair two 300s with a Sonos Arc or Beam (Gen 2), you can get truly immersive home theater surround sound.
Last but not least, Sonos is discounting both the Sonos Move 2 and Sonos Roam 2. The Move 2 is available for $359 ($90 off) from Amazon, Best buyand Sonoswhich is $23 off its lowest price to date. Meanwhile, the Roam 2 is discounted from $40 to $139 (Amazon, Best buy, Sonos), which is its best price to date.
The Move 2 is a powerful six-pound speaker that you can carry using a built-in handle, letting you fill any room or outdoor patio with sound. Unlike its predecessor, the Move 2 features stereo sound and a long-lasting battery, allowing you to enjoy around 24 hours of playtime on a single charge. It also includes support for line-in via USB-C and lets you play any music you’re playing via Bluetooth to the rest of your Sonos system.
With twice the battery life of its predecessor and better-sounding stereo audio, the Sonos Move 2’s improvements don’t end there. Supports line-in audio, can stream Bluetooth audio to other Sonos speakers and more.
If you’re looking for something even more portable, there’s the Roam 2. It’s similar to the original Roam, but unlike its predecessor, it’s relatively easy to use out of the box, as Sonos has eliminated the complicated setup process. Of course, it is less powerful than the Move 2, since it is the smaller and cheaper speaker. It also lacks a user-replaceable battery and only offers up to 10 hours of continuous playback.
However, the second-generation Roam still produces clean, detailed audio and offers an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, so you can take it outside without worry. Plus, like the Move 2, it’s compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa, so you can control it using voice commands as long as you’re connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Like its predecessor, the Sonos Roam 2 is a compact, travel-friendly Bluetooth speaker that easily syncs with the Sonos home audio ecosystem over Wi-Fi.
