For some reason, Universal just revealed the new Wolf Man’s gruesome transformation– Brit Commerce

Today is January 7th and the next full moon won’t be until January 13th, but Universal has decided that today is the day to reveal the transformation scene of their new werewolf film, which premieres on January 17.

The moment when “the human being becomes a wolf” is a crucial sequence in any werewolf film: Rick Baker’s visceral work in An American werewolf in London remains the all-time champion, even after four decades, and although fans knew werewolf would inevitably present his own version, it’s still a little strange to glimpse Christopher Abbott’s character going through all that furry agony out of context.

Still, kudos to the sound designers. That’s a disgusting, repulsive bunch of bones to inject into your ear! Here is the video:

It’s too dark to really see the details (although there is some excellent howling), so perhaps director and co-writer Leigh Whannell, who also made the 2020 film. invisible man remake, does it also include a different transformation scene with better lighting? There is a lot you can do in the forest, even with a full moon.

That’s Abbott (Poor things) As you see there, you play Blake, a man who returns to his childhood home in rural Oregon, where he is visited by his ex-wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner of The fantastic four: first steps) and his young daughter (Matilda Firth). As the film’s synopsis tells us, the family is “attacked by an invisible animal and, in a desperate escape, they barricade themselves inside the house while the creature prowls the perimeter. However, as the night progresses, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide if the terror inside her home is more deadly than the danger outside.

werewolfThe tagline promises “a new era of horror is here,” though from what we’ve seen so far (including the scene above), there’s no hook as distinctive as Whannell’s reimagining of invisible man like an epic tale of gaslighting followed by hard-won revenge. But who knows what twists may yet appear among the tropes? Find out when werewolf hits theaters on January 17.
