Matt Murdock and his friends (and enemies) are ready to return with Daredevil: born again In March. The way to obtain this program has been tense, partly due to a creative review in 2023 that arose from Marvel’s general problems with the TV format.
In a recent interview with SFX magazineShowrunner Dario Scardapane spoke about the pivot away from that original version of Chris Ord and Matt Corman. According to Scardapane, the version of Ord and Corman, which only had less than half of its 18 planned episodes filmed before being discarded, “had really strong points.” But he didn’t feel in line with what Reckless had been established to be. “In that initial version, Born again It was a soft restart connected to MCU of the Netflix series that also maintained some (but not all) elements of that initial show. Once SCARDAPAN was brought, the Netflix series was decided (and by extension, bigger Defenders universe) were part of the MCU, and Born again I could completely resume where he left the show.
Speaking about the “turning in U”, actor Charlie Cox acknowledged the first Born again The iteration simply “was not working completely”, even when it also called it “interesting and valid” in its own right. Ord and Corman wanted to avoid “doing exactly the same”, and when Scardapane joined, a new pilot shot to be more on the Netflix series line. In Scardapane’s eyes, this show is more a “history of New York crime” compared to the original sensation of the Netflix program. For him, the least attractive scenes came “when they were two characters in a room that talked about what a hero is.” He hastened to clarify that he was not throwing any tone, he simply does not want characters “who complain about his fate in life, wanted to see them doing things. I felt it had been done.” As such, there will be longer scenes in Born again, particularly during fights. When he ran Punisher Series, the characters “hash things” for five pages, so there would be space for action scenes. With characters like Matt, Punisher and newcomers like White Tiger and Muse to play, Scardapane joked the program will be “great action scenes at much more rhythm” than before.
