A day after silently eliminating AI’s policy commitments from the Biden Age of its website, Anthrope Recommendations sent to the White House for a national policy of AI that the company says “better prepare[s] United States to capture the economic benefits ”of AI.
The company’s suggestions include the preservation of the AI Security Institute established under the Biden administration, directing Nist Develop national security evaluations for powerful models and build a team within the government to analyze possible security vulnerabilities in AI.
Anthrope also requires export controls of hardened chips, particularly restrictions on the sale of NVIDIA H20 chips to China, in the interest of national security. To feed the AI data centers, Anthrope recommends that the United States establish a national objective of building 50 additional energy gigawatts dedicated to the AI industry by 2027.
Several of the policy suggestions are closely aligned with the Executive Order of AI of former President Biden, which Trump repealed in January. Trump allied critics argued that the order’s report requirements were onerous.
