Batman is officially the first superhero to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame– Brit Commerce

He’s not the first fictional character to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Bugs Bunny, Kermit the Frog and Mickey Mouse are just a few who came before him), but Batman is the first. superhero to obtain the honor, with a location that means it will be consecrated alongside Ordinance TV star Adam West and Batman co-creator Bob Kane. (The star was first announced to be making his 2020 debut in 2019, but that’s finally coming true.)

Batman’s star will be added to the famous boulevard on Thursday, September 26; it’s star number 2,790, so it’s about time a superhero made the list. (You can imagine Superman’s publicists are probably working overtime to get him next on the list.)

According to a press release from DC, DC President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, as well as DC SVP and General Manager Anne DePies, will be in attendance at the event, as will “Batman” himself (no word on what costume will be represented, but a classic look seems like the right choice). Additionally, “Batman will be awarded the Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the latest Guinness World Record to be awarded to the character, as well as being “the comic book character most adapted” into live-action films, among others.

Superfans, take note: “In collaboration with Funko, an all-day fan event will be taking place in conjunction with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on September 26th at Funko Hollywood (6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028). Jim Lee will be participating in an exclusive one-hour meet-and-greet and autograph session for Batman fans at Funko Hollywood from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attendees for this exclusive autograph session will be limited to fans who received a wristband.

Wristbands will be distributed to the first 100 fans who purchase a Batman product at Funko Hollywood on Tuesday, September 24, two days prior to the event. No outside merchandise is permitted. One wristband per person. Wristbands are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. On signing day, fans can begin lining up at 9:00 a.m.

While the September 26 event will undoubtedly be packed with people, the press release also notes that “Warner Bros. Archives will also host a pop-up museum of costumes and props from Batman’s film and television history at Funko Hollywood. Authentic props, iconic costumes and a few surprises will give audiences a unique opportunity to experience pieces of Batman’s cinematic history up close and personal. More details will be announced soon.”

It’s just a symbolic honor, but… is It’s still pretty cool. As io9 said in 2019 when Batman’s Walk of Fame debut was first announced: “Congrats, Batman. Hopefully no one defaces it with Crime Alley-themed graffiti the moment it’s installed… that would be unfortunate.”
