Godzilla crosses paths with Marvel again to fight everyone– Brit Commerce

You know, not too long ago Marvel had variant covers featuring Godzilla facing off against the likes of the Avengers and Spider-Man. Toho’s great lizard will face off with someone these days, no matter how big they are. So it won’t surprise you that those covers were a prelude to him truly ruining the days of Marvel’s A-list superheroes.

On Thursday, the hollywood reporter sleepless Godzilla vs. Marvel, The editor’s first crossover with the character since 1977. Godzilla, king of the monsters. This new event is a series of one-shots in which the King will face (or team up with) various Marvel heroes throughout the decades. First up is Ryan North and John Romita Jr.’s story about an encounter with the Fantastic Four, who fight King Ghidorah after he becomes the new Herald of Galactus. As the Four face off against the new cosmic dragon, Godzilla and the Silver Surfer must team up to save the planet.

According to Marvel EiC CB Cebulski, the company initially spoke with Toho about reprinting those old comics, but the conversations ultimately made it clear that “both teams were excited to do more together. “These crossovers began to be made in direct collaboration with Toho, and we felt that the perfect time for them was the 70th anniversary of Godzilla.” As Marvel’s president of comics and franchises Dan Buckley noted, Godzilla has become quite popular lately thanks to Godzilla minus one and American-made MonsterVerse movies, so Marvel couldn’t help but be involved in that, and if this were a success, Cebulski said Marvel would be more than happy to partner with Toho on more “exciting projects.”

“Kaiju, and specifically Godzilla, are important parts of Marvel comic history, so we knew we wanted to explore something with their teams,” Buckley said. “It’s part of our current cultural zeitgeist and a perfect example of the fun the comics industry can bring. “We’re focused on storytelling first and foremost, but fun opportunities for crossovers like this give our fans an entertaining escape they won’t want to miss.”

Godzilla vs. the fantastic four begins in March 2025. Future issues and their creators will be revealed at a later date.
