Courtesy of a months-old startup called PickleTheir pitch is simple: submit a five-minute training video of yourself to create an avatar, and 24 hours later, apparently, you’re ready to go. Do you want to call from the car? It will be your secret. Too lazy to get out of bed? No problem. At a beach club? You’re probably pushing it, although judging by the demo video, that’s not the only thing that works. (The service currently comes in basic, standard, and professional versions, ranging from $300 to $1,150 per year.)
Backed by Los Angeles venture firm Krew Capital, the technology only works with MacOS right now, Pickle says, but a version for Windows is said to be coming next month. As for conferencing apps customers can choose from, these include Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, according to Pickle. Although you will have to wait to use them. According to their site, “due to high demand, clone generation is currently delayed.”
