How to turn off notification summaries based on Apple Intelligence– BC

With iOS 18, Apple launched Apple Intelligence, which includes an AI-powered feature for summarizing notifications. When you receive a bunch of notifications from an app, the feature summarizes the content of all notifications in a card that appears on the lock screen. You can discard the stack after you’ve read the summary or tap it to view individual notifications.

However, the feature is not always accurate. Sometimes it produces funny results and other times it does not adequately summarize the content of the notifications and includes visible inaccuracies. If you find notification summaries causing confusion rather than being helpful, you can turn them off or customize them.

On iPhone/iPad

Head to Settings > Notifications and tap the Summarize Notifications tab. There are two options: you can turn off AI-based notification summaries for all apps by turning on the Summarize Notifications option at the top, or you can turn off notifications per app.

On Mac

Click on the Apple menu in the upper left corner and go to System Settings > Notifications. Click the Summarize Notifications tab, and then turn off Summarize Notifications. Similar to the iPhone/iPad settings, you can turn off notification digests for selected apps.

There is no way to turn off notification summaries for a specific app category, such as News, Productivity, Utilities, Shopping, Travel, and Finance.

Apple said in January that it would release a software update to better indicate that notification summaries are generated by AI and could have some bugs.
