Your perfect grid on your Instagram profile may soon disappear, if it hasn’t already.
Instagram is rolling out a big change this weekend: rectangles instead of squares. That means your carefully curated grid could be a mess as content dimensions change across your profile.
“I know some of you really like squares. And square photos are kind of a legacy of Instagram,” said Instagram boss Adam Mosseri. saying in an Instagram story. “But at this point, most of what is uploaded, both photos and videos, are in a vertical orientation. And it’s a shame to crop them too much. I know it’s a change. I know it’s a little annoying, but I think it’s a temporary pain.”

Apparently, that change is already creating some havoc on networks around the world. What was once a perfect image created by squares is a disaster. Many people noticed that their favorite artists’ Insta pages now looked strange, for example.

Instagram has been warning about this change for some time. It started testing vertical grids in August and now it looks like the change is really coming to everyone.
