First season of Squid Game It was full of mysteries, twists, shocking revelations, and overall surprises. No wonder it was a enormously A popular hit for Netflix that also garnered critical acclaim, including six Emmys and a historic first-ever nomination for Best Drama Series for a non-English language show, it’s no surprise then that fans have been brainstorming about what to expect when the show returns in December.
In a new video shared as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, stars Lee Jung-jae (the unlikely-but-impossible-to-not-root-for winner of last season, Seong Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (the lead, definitely a character still hiding some major secrets), and Wi Ha-jun (the determined detective Hwang Jun-ho) take a seat and react to fan theories collected from viewers around the world.
Are Squid Game Fan theories about a universal language that will unite us all? It’s totally possible!
Our favorite suggestions include:
- The second season will reveal more about the monkey-suited Squid Game staff from the first season, perhaps even showing the same events from their point of view. Wi Ha-Jun likes this theory, but… no.
- There is a special meaning behind the color of the envelope that potential Squid Game contestants choose when they are recruited. Lee Byong-hung seriously replies to the fan who wrote that theory, “I think you’re the only one who thought that.”
- Gi-hun will seek revenge on the loan sharks who forced him to participate in the game in the first place. “Do you think the kind-hearted Seong Gi-hun would do anything to harm others?” Lee Jung-jae cheerfully asks, as stills show his character lamenting brutally over someone in the first season.
The only solid information that emerges from the video is that there will be “a lot of new games” in the second season, and “they are all Korean games,” as well as that “the second season is more interesting than all these theories put together.” And of course, the video reacquaints us with Squid GameThe trio of returning stars, all of whom are far more charming in real life than the characters they play on the show.
New cast members for season 2 include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an. We don’t know much about who they’ll be playing, in case you want to add some more theories! (According to the video, neither Park nor Jo will be playing an adult version of Gi-hun’s young daughter.)
Everything will be revealed, or at least further will be revealed; there will also be a third and final season to come, when Squid Game The second season arrives on Netflix on December 26.
